Get serious about wilderness first aid with certification course

Written by Tom Severin on Wednesday, 01 May 2013 12:24.

Vehicles on trailFour-day course will be offered June 7-10 at Hungry Valley SVRA

In a matter of a few hours, your 4-wheel drive vehicle can take you far into the outback. So far in fact that calling 911 is not an option. And in the event, you do reach 911, it may be hours before anyone can reach you - not the 3 to 10 minutes we normally expect in the urban environment. In this situation, you need to rely on your own first aid skills learned in the Wilderness Advanced First Aid class.

The Wilderness Advanced First Aid clinic will provide you with skills, knowledge and training to handle life threatening medical emergencies and allows you to be better prepared to protect your family in an emergency.

Governor Brown announces appointment of new OHMVR Division Deputy Director

Written by John Stewart on Wednesday, 13 March 2013 15:46.

Governor Brown today announced the appointment of Christopher Conlin, 53, of San Diego, as deputy director at the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division, Department of Parks and Recreation.

CA4WDC welcomes the appointment and believes the Governor has made an excellent choice. John Stewart, Natural Resources Consultant, stated, "The new Deputy Director should compliment work already underway by recently appointed Director of Parks and Recreation (General Anthony Jackson (Ret)) to bring accountability to California Department of Parks and Recreation."

Conlin was vice president of 3D Global Solutions Inc. from 2011 to 2012. Additional background lists numerous leadership positions within the U.S. Marine Corps.
